God uses skillfully played music
Dr. Joan Boney, born again by God and set in the church by Jesus Christ, in offices of apostle and prophet according to Ephesians 4:8;11-14, with spiritual gift of exhortation, to deal with current problems faced by body of Christ, focused on doing the Word of God and preparing for the end time and the return of Jesus to gather the elect of God. God uses skillfully played music in helping people with various problems. I Samuel 16:23 And it came to pass, when the evil spirit from God was upon Saul, that David took an harp, and played with his hand: so Saul was refreshed, and was well, and the evil spirit departed from him.

During WWII Winston Churchill used Beethoven's Fifth Symphony as his "victory" music which was played throughout the war as they faced hardship, going into difficult battles against the enemy, encouraging the soldiers and citizens of England and other nations. (Many will recognize this movement.)
The music is strong, joyous, overcoming just as our lives through God should be as we live on this present earth.

Evil spirits often fled when skillful music was played to people in the Bible. And the people of God praised God by playing all manner of instruments as they rejoiced.
2 Samuel 6:5 And David and all the house of Israel played before the LORD on all manner of instruments made of fir wood, even on harps, and on psalteries, and on timbrels, and on cornets, and on cymbals.
By music we express great joy and victory and power and praise.
And by these scriptures in the Bible we see when David played skillfully upon his harp, evil spirits left king Saul. (I Sam. 16)
Just enjoy the magnificent sounds made by very talented individuals.

Alfred Brendel is one of the foremost pianists specializing in Beethoven and Mozart. He is my personal favorite when performing the Beethoven piano sonatas. And the Pathetique is one of my favorites of the sonatas.
Enjoy the pure beauty of the sound that is produced by very skillful hands and God given talent.

Most people will know popular music, but classical music is abstract and often pure sound, without attachment of mental image, unlike the drunk who lost his sweetheart and is sitting at a bar table, moaning over that lost love.
People like Patsy Cline and Judy Garland had very pure sounding voices and can be enjoyable for short intervals. But the words sung often bring these lost love images and entertain people but might pull one down emotionally and be even disturbing as they conjure, for many, lost romance images rather than being calming as David playing on his harp calmed king Saul. Devils can be driven away by music. (I Samuel 16) Or devils can be stirred up as I believe happens with some of the violence today caused by loud rock type music.

Pam Padgett worked for years as a programmer at Fed Ex. At the Memphis hub, there is a building with a very long hallway. Pam said they would often start work around 11 pm and she would be tired as she started down that hallway. But she noticed by the time she got to the end of the hall, she felt peppy. Later she met the sound engineer who designed the sound for that hall. He told her the sound playing was especially designed to cause the workers to feel energy.
💥💥💥
I found music can cause physical pain to increase if the music is more dissonant. After one of my surgeries when music was playing I noticed the pain would increase when cymbals crashed or in strong forte passages.
💥💥💥
I always had music playing when guests came to dinner at my house. Once my cousin came to dinner at my apartment. Years later she was still talking about how wonderful that dinner was. I asked, "What did we have to eat.?" She looked puzzled and never could recall the food. (It was the music that I used that made it wonderful.)
Armies often go off to war by march music for it stirs up the flesh to fight and to win and especially to go out!
Hitler's idol was the music composer Richard Wagner.
Sporting events also use music (fight songs) to stir up the flesh and cause men to want to win.
Music definitely controls humans and even devils as we know by the example of king Saul and David. (I Samuel 16)
I am selecting these recordings primarily because of the sheer beauty of the sound.
When I was traveling and would be picked up at the airport, I rarely encountered anyone that did not have radio playing in their car. I always thought this was so interesting. People often can't seem to stand silence.
💥💥💥💥💥
When I go to bed, I'm very careful not to get terribly exciting dramatic shows on TV for I want to calm down, not wake up.
This recording we have for you today is one of the more special of the piano sonatas. I saw one of the Coen brother's movies and he let a young woman play almost this entire sonata on an empty stage with an empty auditorium. I never forgot that scene that was black and white.
But I love pure sound of the various instruments and the way the instruments interact one with another. I believe we can be helped by music ... or even hurt by music.
I recall one of my music professors saying: "Never sing a happy song to a sad person."
Programming is the art of combining a concert with various forms of music.
John Phillip Sousa was a master at programming. He took his band on tour to Alabama. He marched the band into the main part of town playing "Dixie." The people ran from every direction toward the sound they were hearing! Then Sousa told them about the concert they would be performing that evening. He said, "We will start our program by playing "Dixie." (The people listening cheered loudly!) Then Sousa said, "We will play the 1812 Overture, followed by "Dixie." (They people shouted.) The concerts sold out.

This is one of the most difficult of all the literature written for the violin. It is almost impossible to believe one violin can do all that you will hear on this composition.
Henryk Szeryng was one of the great interpreters of Bach and skilled in every technique to be performed on the violin.
I heard this Bach sonata long before I was born again by God and was added to the church.
This composition, to me, demonstrates, in musical sound, the struggle of the human on this earth and how in the end, after so much struggle, life comes down to one single note, our God, who created this heaven and earth!

Concerning Mozart:
Several years ago, a woman from our church group became interested in classical music. She decided to purchase a Mozart CD. She went into the store and a clerk came to her asking if she could help her and Linda said, "I want to buy a CD by Mozart."
The clerk replied, "Mozart is from here all the way to that back wall."
Linda just stood there stunned looking at all the rows of CD's of Mozart.
Then she turned and walked out of the store!
Mozart wrote over 800 compositions in his short 37 year life time. I've never heard anything that wasn't wonderful!

Niccolo Paganini was one of the greatest violinists that ever lived. There was no recording equipment in his life time, but we know how accomplished he was by the compositions he wrote for violin, which require a very high level of violin skill.
The violinist on this recording, Salvatore Accardo, a professor of violin at a university in Italy, is one of the foremost violinists today in the performance and interpretation of Paganini.
Also the brilliance of the London Philharmonic Orchestra matches the sound produced by this extraordinary violinist!

I Samuel 18:6 And it came to pass as they came, when David was returned from the slaughter of the Philistine, that the women came out of all cities of Israel, singing and dancing, to meet king Saul, with tabrets, with joy, and with instruments of musick.
Throughout the Bible, Old and New Testaments, we see God use music in various ways.
When king Saul was troubled by devils, David would play skillfully on the harp, and the devils would leave king Saul. I Samuel 16:23 And it came to pass, when the evil spirit from God was upon Saul, that David took an harp, and played with his hand: so Saul was refreshed, and was well, and the evil spirit departed from him.

In the 1961 movie, "Judgment at Nuremberg", Spencer Tracy and Marlene Dietrich were discussing Richard Wagner's daughter-in-law. I noticed music playing in the background. It was from Wagner's Opera "Rienzi". I did not know the composition at that time but I thought what I was hearing to be some of the most beautiful music I had ever heard.
Wagner was Adolph Hitler's favorite composer. (Themes of his operas were often about mythical gods who represented the Germans as glorious warriors who were heroic.)

George Szell (1897-1970) was a Hungarian-born conductor. He is widely considered one of the twentieth century's greatest conductors. He is remembered today for his long and successful tenure as music director of the Cleveland Orchestra of Cleveland, Ohio, and for the recordings of the standard classical repertoire he made in Cleveland and with other orchestras.
Szell came to Cleveland in 1946 to take over a respected if undersized orchestra, which was struggling to recover from the disruptions of World War II. By the time of his death he was credited, to quote the critic Donal Henahan, with having built it into "what many critics regarded as the world's keenest symphonic instrument."
Szell quickly realized that he was never going to make a career out of being a composer or pianist, and that he much preferred the artistic control he could achieve as a conductor. The Vienna Symphony's conductor had injured his arm, and Szell was asked to substitute. Szell quickly turned to conducting full-time.
At the outbreak of war in Europe in 1939, Szell was returning via the U.S. from an Australian tour; he ended up settling with his family in New York City. From 1940 to 1945 he taught composition, orchestration, and music theory at the Mannes College of Music in Manhattan.
He died in 1970.

Bruno Walter: Wikipedia
Bruno Walter (born Bruno Schlesinger, September 15, 1876 – February 17, 1962) was a German-born conductor, pianist and composer. Born in Berlin, he escaped Nazi Germany in 1933, was naturalized as a French citizen in 1938, and settled in the United States in 1939.
Walter served as Principal Conductor of the Leipzig Gewandhaus Orchestra from 1929 until March 1933, when his tenure was cut short by the new Nazi government, as detailed below. In speeches in the late 1920s, Nazi leader Adolf Hitler had complained bitterly about the presence of Jewish conductors at the Berlin opera, and mentioned Walter a number of times, adding to Walter's name the words "alias Schlesinger." When the Nazis took power, they undertook a systematic process of barring Jews from artistic life.
Walter was then scheduled to conduct the Berlin Philharmonic on March 20, but its management was warned by Joseph Goebbels that "unpleasant demonstrations" might occur at the concert, and the Propaganda Ministry clarified this by saying that there would be violence in the hall. Hearing of this, Walter chose to withdraw, saying to management, "Then I have no further business here."
When Nazi Germany annexed Austria – the Anschluss – in 1938, Walter was in the Netherlands conducting the Concertgebouw Orchestra. His elder daughter Lotte was in Vienna at the time, and was arrested by the Nazis; Walter was able to use his influence to free her. He also used his influence to find safe quarters in Scandinavia for his brother and sister during the war.
On November 1, 1939, he set sail for the United States, which became his permanent home.

Arturo Toscanini: (Wikipedia)
Arturo Toscanini, (March 25, 1867 -January 16, 1957) was an Italian conductor. He was one of the most acclaimed and influential musicians of the late 19th and early 20th century, renowned for his intensity, his perfectionism, his ear for orchestral detail and sonority, and his eidetic memory.
He was at various times the music director of La Scala in Milan and the New York Philharmonic. Later in his career, he was appointed the first music director of the NBC Symphony Orchestra (1937–1954), and this led to his becoming a household name, especially in the United States, through his radio and television broadcasts and many recordings of the operatic and symphonic repertoire.
Toscanini was born in Parma, Emilia-Romagna, and won a scholarship to the local music conservatory, where he studied the cello.
He joined the orchestra of an opera company, with which he toured South America in 1886. While presenting Aida in Rio de Janeiro on June 25, Leopoldo Miguez, the locally hired conductor, reached the summit of a two-month escalating conflict with the performers due to his rather poor command of the work, to the point that the singers went on strike and forced the company's general manager to seek a substitute conductor. Carlo Superti and Aristide Venturi tried unsuccessfully to finish the work.
In desperation, the singers suggested the name of their assistant chorusmaster, who knew the whole opera from memory. Although he had no conducting experience, Toscanini was eventually persuaded by the musicians to take up the baton at 9:15 pm, and led a performance of the two-and-a-half hour opera, completely from memory. The public was taken by surprise, at first by the youth, charisma and sheer intensity of this unknown conductor, then by his solid musicianship. The result was astounding acclaim. For the rest of that season, Toscanini conducted 18 operas, each one an absolute success.
Thus began his career as a conductor, at age 19.
